A Delicious Experiment

‘A Delicious Experiment’, a documentary-style film made by Outpost Studios about this year’s residency and our mission, was released at Heirloom Lodge on October 12, 2025.
KWF Residency Award winner Chef Hannah Wong joined for the film, a panel discussion with
Matt Straus and Sue Decker of
Blue Star Farm, and prepared food for the festivities.

We are grateful to all the donors who have made this residency a reality and who continue to attend, support, and dream of economic change for culinary work. We would love to continue working on all opportunities to encourage the production of more fresh, local, delicious food, and are looking forward to another Kitchen Work Foundation residency at Heirloom Lodge in the spring of 2026.

2025 Residency winner, Hannah Wong!

Hannah’s experience, longstanding dedication to cooking and to the restaurant industry was showcased at Heirloom Lodge from April 22 - 26, 2025.

"I don’t want to be in a hospitality industry that just replicates the traditional restaurant model…I hope to challenge myself through the KWF residency to come up with my own version of what this business can be. I think Matt and I share a similar ethos of the restaurant as a space that is community-oriented and values-driven. Matt’s commitment to using his restaurant and resources as a hub for uplifting others is one that needs to be shouted from the rooftops. I’m inspired by his work, not just on a culinary level but on a human level."
